Jatmai and Ghatarani sit about 15km apart in the forest south-east of Raipur, each a Devi temple built beside a stream that becomes a full waterfall in the rains. Jatmai has a granite temple and a broad rock-slab cascade; Ghatarani is wilder, deeper into the forest, with a series of pools. Navratri fills both. From November to May the water thins and you get the forest and the rock to yourself. Ninety kilometres from Raipur on decent road.
