Kurukshetra is where the Mahabharata places the eighteen-day war and where Krishna is said to have delivered the Bhagavad Gita. Brahma Sarovar is an enormous rectangular tank, over a kilometre long, that fills with hundreds of thousands of people at solar eclipses. Jyotisar marks the Gita spot; Bhishma Kund at Narkatari marks where Bhishma lay on his bed of arrows. A 48-kos circuit of nearly 200 tirthas surrounds it. It is a very major pilgrim destination and a very minor tourist one, three hours from Delhi.
