Reached by a short ferry across the Chinai river, Mousuni is a fishing island of mud flats, casuarina fringes and an endless grey-gold beach at Baliara where tents and bamboo huts stand metres from the tide. There are no resorts, no promenades - just sea eagles, red crabs, and fishermen hauling nets at dawn. Sunsets over the estuary mouth are absurdly good. Go before everyone else does.
