Baruasagar sits on the road between Jhansi and Khajuraho, which means several hundred thousand people drive past it every year. The 18th-century fort on the ridge overlooks a big artificial lake, and a few hundred metres away stands Jarai-ka-Math, a 9th-century Pratihara temple with fine carving and no fence around it. There is a Gupta-era temple in the same village. The whole set takes ninety minutes and costs nothing, and you will not see another visitor.
