Kondaveedu was the capital of the Reddy kings in the 14th century, and the fort runs across a long hill above the Guntur plain: gateways, magazines, temples, wells, a mint and the Gopinatha temple, twenty-one structures identified so far. A ghat road climbs to the top now, and the ruins are scattered enough that you can walk for hours. The views run across the Krishna delta. It is 25km from Guntur, a city of a million, and the summit is usually empty.
