A ninety-metre drop into a circular rock amphitheatre on the Kaimur plateau, among the tallest falls in Bihar.
Telhar Kund is a plunge of around 90 metres off the Kaimur escarpment into a near-circular basin of red sandstone, walled on three sides. The approach is a short walk from the road-head through scrub, and there is nothing built at the site. It runs strongly from July into November and slows to a trickle by spring. Karkatgarh, where the Karmanasa river drops into a crocodile pool, is 20km away, and a vast plateau fort and an early stone temple further west complete a two-day Bihar loop that almost no itinerary contains.
