A vast blue reservoir scattered with 48 forested islands in Tripura's tribal heartland - boat between them and you may not see another visitor all day.
Formed where the Raima and Sarma rivers meet, Dumboor spreads over 40 sq km of water broken by dozens of green islets, with the Narikel Kunja (coconut island) cottages as the only stay on the water. Migratory birds arrive by the thousand in winter, and the surrounding Dhalai hills are home to Reang and Tripuri villages that see almost no tourism. It is arguably Northeast India's most underrated lakescape.
